Frequently asked questions
What’s included when I buy my pass?
Included is transport on our modern air conditioned buses, services of your Driver
and Guide including commentary, accommodation bookings, and free activities. Trips
include visiting heaps of places that would cost you extra if you travelled alone
or on a normal bus service.
The Hula Loop, Tribal Loop and Lei Low passengers pay separately for accommodation
as you travel, but this can be booked en route by your Guide on a daily basis.
The Hotel Hula is for those customers that wish to prepay for their hotel style
accommodation.
The Lei Low pass, Beachcomber Island sector: Passengers price includes boat transfers,
dorm accommodation and 3 meals per day, as well as free activities on Beachcomber
Island.
The Tribal Loop pass, Tribewanted sector: Passengers price includes return airfare
to Labasa with Pacific Sun, transfer to/from Labasa to Vorovoro Island, 5 meals
a day, Tribewanted membership and activities/projects on Vorovoro Island.
Can I change my departure dates?
You can change your departure dates as often as you like!
What accommodations are used?
The Resorts used are:
Mango Bay Resort - Beachfront property which has beach front bures, safari tents
and dorm style accommodation (they just won an award for the Best Backpacker Accommodation
in Viti Levu, Fiji).
Raintree Lodge - A lodge on the edge of the Suva rainforest. They have dorms, private
double rooms, twin rooms, and bunk rooms (all with share facilities) and detached
bures.
Volivoli Beach - Beachfront property at the northern tip of Viti Levu with dorms,
lodge rooms, and private villas. All rooms with seaviews.
However, we are always happy to drop passengers at a different accommodation in
the area if they prefer.
What should I bring?
You should bring sunscreen (SPF30), insect repellent, water, extra cash, walking
shoes, swimwear, towel, clothes, a hat to protect you from the sun, walking shoes
that can get wet on the hike and a camera. Please bring one t-shirt or shirt that
covers your shoulders for when we visit the villages. Also, if you wish to bring
school books/school supplies for the school visits you are most welcome, but not
expected to. If you have large items such as surfboards or scuba gear, please let
us know when you are booking so that the Driver can make room on the bus.
How much money do I need?
The average Feejee Experience passenger spends about NZ$50 to NZ$60 per day while
on the bus for accommodation, meals, beverages, souvenirs, and any other little
extras. Don’t worry our Driver and Guides will do an ATM stop everyday on
the Feejee Experience.
What is the climate like in Fiji?
Fiji’s climate can be enjoyed all year round in your summer gear (20C degrees
to 33C degrees). The period between May and October is generally drier, but a little
cooler. Needless to say leave your ski jackets at home.
What are the benefits of travelling on Viti Levu as opposed to the other islands?
The benefits are simple, the main island provides comforts. Viti Levu has some of
the most beautiful beaches in the world and due to the fact they are on the main
island away from most tourist destinations they are clean and untouched. Travelling
on the main island also allows you to save heaps more than you would on the islands;
goods, food, etc are all cheaper where they are made and that is Viti Levu. 85%
of the Fijian people live on Viti Levu, which means you will meet and mingle with
a lot of them on Feejee Experience.
What can I do on Vorovoro?
Get involved in the community: On Vorovoro this means embracing and celebrating
the local Fijian culture and traditions and becoming a unique focal point for responsible
tourism in the region. Learn about sustainability: Using Vorovoro as a ‘testbed’
for small-scale sustainable projects that visiting tribe members and local Fijians
can contribute to and be part of. Inspire local community and tribe members to take
their Vorovoro experience home with them.
What other activities does Feejee Experience offer?
You can organise a variety of activities; such as scuba diving, sky diving and four
wheel drive trips with your Feejee Experience Guide at exclusive rates onboard the
bus.
